First I kept on whining about lack of depth and now I'm trying to be CG as 2d as possible.

First two are SNSD fanart! Because I <3 korean girl groups. I'M SO LAME LOL.

Even MORE fanart...Maple story fanart. I'm not sure why I've been drawing so much maple story fanart..I don't even play the game anymore. Maybe I should draw some bleach fanart and get myself some more page views. -gets shot-

This method is ideal for speed painting. Grey scale -> colour is also commonly used for finished/polished pieces too.

Program: Photoshop Elements 7.0

1) Really basic lineart, it's pretty messy but speed painting is normally messy so...hehehe no eraser tool for me 8D

2) Blocked in the shadows using a 68% opacity normal brush. I went directly over the lineart.

3) Added more things.

4) I created a new layer and set it to 'color' mode. Blocked in basic colours.

5) Created another layer and set it to 'overlay' mode. This mode allows me to block in brighter shades of colour.

6) Created a layer underneath the lineart and used a 50% opacity gradient to shade the wall and floor.

7) Created another layer on top of the 'shade' layer and drew designs with a plain white brush.

8) I used a soft brush eraser at 45% opacity so the design would blend in with the wall.

9) Set another layer ontop of the 'design' layer and drew the silhouettes of the shadows.

10) Yay chalk marks.

11) I created a new layer on the very top, set it to 'overlay' and filled it in with a dull turqouise-grey.

12) I added a somewhat subtle texture to the wall to make things more interesting. I like abusing textures >___>;

Yay done!

T-shirt design, WIP, and holy crap neopets art.

:[ I was so depressed I entered the neopets picture contest...in hopes of boosting my self esteem.

and I didn't win anything. OTL.

I really need more time to study -_-; Why am I wasting time...

ACK I AM SO EMBARRASSED by my incoherence. -stabs self- So what did I do when I got home? -_- Wasted precious study time drawing my favourite circle prince.

And the composition isn't even that good. :/ Why do I always insist on using the center? It breaks the law of thirds [sixths..ninths..multiples of 3]

This afternoon I popped into the exhibition of Ichen Wu and her student's paintings.

I admit I was never particularly fond of traditional chinese paintings, but today definitely changed my mind! I'm picky..but even the students' works astounded me. I felt rather ashamed and untalented looking at all the pretty paintings. I've always admired people who could paint, but today made me realize how I'm really not all that good at art. -sigh-

Random notes:
-gouache[?]-like spotting, work really well on landscape
-I like the more darker toned paintings
-Blue shades were <3 muted/dark/not vibrant
-The shading comes directly from the brush strokes, not from layering
-Brush strokes incorporate a lot of movement, particularly effective in bird/horse paintings!CRANES
-gradient from white to darker shades. WHITE IMPORTANT<-soft blend pretty.
-pink and neutral green
-lots of greenish/blue-ish gray hues
-Not a big fan of the more vibrant pictures

SAI doesn't save individual layer settings when I compress. :/ I think I should get a cracked version of SAI or something..photoshop kills my comp when I try to draw anything on it.

Because I feel like I need another blog! My lj is so incredibly unorganized. School is really depressing...but I do feel lethargic when I look at my friends, who actually have more valid reasons for stressing out. -_-

Wow, blogger has a really awesome "add image" function, pretty convenient. I think I'll post wips in this blog. :O My lj!artblog failed miserably due to my refusal to copy and paste those damn links.
